foreword
We, The Annual Staff, are proud to present to you our 1959 TIGER. In this volume, we have endeavored to depict a living cinerama of our ideals, our aspirations, and our college ex¬ periences during this year.
May our joys, our sorrows, and our struggles serve as a light to illuminate the pathway of tomorrow and perpetuate a loyalty to Saint Paul's College.
As you turn through these pages of time, we invite you to reminisce and to retrace the spirit which lives here and in our hearts.

President’s Message
Dear Saint Paulites:
It is again my privilege to felicitate another class of seniors on the occasion of their attainment of the graduation milestone at Saint Paul's College. Of course, you have my congratulations and best wishes for success and satisfactions in all of your endeavors in the challenging years ahead. But it is, most of all, of the present and prospective challenges to be faced that I wish to speak in this final word to you as undergraduates on the threshold of graduation.
World-wide conditions, it can be said advisedly, as never before confront individuals no less than nations and the society of nations with unparalled problems and challenges. In the nature of things that would be inevitably in a growing Atomic Age and in the infancy of the explorations and onset of the Space Age. But there is more: peoples by the millions in formerly colonial or dependent areas are gaining their national aspirations for autonomy, independence, or freedom a mere decade since their former political masters held out no hope for the fulfillments of the immediately past year and the year or two ahead. Ghana and the Republic of Mali, both named after long-ago nations of cultures, are on the map of Africa, replacing old names and conditions; Guinea stands beside them in independence; no less than form new nations are scheduled to join them in the year 1960. Parallels are available in the Near and Far East, in the Pacific and elsewhere.
All these and conditions related to such developments make it imperative for the college graduate to recognize the larger roll he must assume in helping to shape the community, the region, the nation, and the world in which he lives in the image of the society free men and women deserve and desire to live.
It is a frustrating time in which you live. Man's inhumanities to man often seemunabated. Conflicts plague regions, nations, and idea- logical blocs of nations. As never before in the possession of a code of lasting values, such as Saint Paul's have sought to instill in you, can prove a fortress of faith and a beacon in a dark time. On these hallowed grounds you have been exposed to proved educational disci¬ plines in an environment of Christian fellowship, in the hope you each would become the caliber of citizen prepared for the roll awaiting each of you.
In the years ahead, try faithfully to represent all that is finest and best in a Saint Paul's education. A college is no bigger than its parts; the students and graduates are Saint Paul's parts that lend character to the integrated whole. And, remember, we are with you all the way. Good Luck!
Sincerely yours,
Earl H. McClenney President

Mr. T. H. E. Jones, Dean of College
'Dean’s Message
Dear Graduate:
I take this opportunity to congratulate you on the successful completion of your college work. I want you to know though, that graduation is com¬ mencement, and that commencing anything means to begin. This means that
although you have your degree, you have not finished your education. You must, if you hope to make the contribution for which you have the potential, continue your preparation.
You are being graduated during a very confused period in American life. America can and will pull out of this confusion if you assume the re¬ sponsibility for sane leadership. To do anything less would violate the pur¬ poses for which your college stands, and this I do not expect of you.
Keep in touch with your college. Write for counsel and guidance. Re¬ turn to the campus as often as possible, and support it with your means and with your influence. Above all, keep her principles and ideals constantly before you and wear the title of "Alumnus" with dignity.
Sincerely yours,
T. H. E. Jones Dean of the College

Class Song
Now that our studies here are done,
And life is at its dawn;
We'll ne're forget our school, so dear,
Saint Paul's, we're marching on.
Chorus
We'll miss our classmates and our friends, We'll miss our teachers too;
And we will also miss Saint Paul's,
Our Alma Mater true.
Saint Paul's, we are now leaving you.
Our pride through years to come;
Though from the start we were to part, Saint Paul's, you are our home.
Words by Robert Gunnell Music by George J. Hatten

Senior Class Poem
Could we but pierce the veil of years to come,
The prospects for a happy life might cease.
But armed with courage which you have instilled, We proudly go undaunted now toward peace.
To you, Saint Paul's, we owe a massive debt,
A sum so vast we could not hope to pay,
For your sound lessons are the vital force Which launch and lead us on the rugged way.
Should we, therefore, aspire to lesser deeds Than those which would your noble name uphold? No, dear Saint Paul's, we will to you be true,
And grace your standards more than fame or gold.
